Helen Smith:
My Research

Welcome to my research page. My field is computational plasma physics and I currently work in the Plasma Theory and Simulation Group at University of California, Berkeley. Prior to this I worked at the the Australian National University - if you're interested you can read about my previous research and a bit about the university.

I primarily work on modelling low temperature, low pressure discharges, using a computational technique known as Particle-in-cell, which has been developed at both UC Berkeley and at ANU for bounded-plasma simulations since the mid-80's. Currently I am working on series resonance sustained discharges in asymmetric geometries - I should have some results to put here very soon.
